Dundas Roncesvalles Peace Garden.

This is a new project I am currently taking part in: it is a community arts project that involves lead Artist Kristen Fahrig & contributing Artist (Myself). Each of us will be working with the youth within our own communities ( Toronto & Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nations) to generate images, words, and phrases to help commemorate a specific Binational Peace Garden & Trail.

This project is years in the making and has provided a great opportunity for the arts to come alive and for the community to participate within the historical components.

The youth will generate responsive drawings around the themes: War of 1812, Long Standing Peace, original trails, people of Toronto, Peoples of New Credit, Movement, Toronto Purchase, Settlements, Mapping progression, plant life species,  and the connection these two groups have over the years. These youth will then have their drawings transfered and etched onto granite tiles and forever places within the peace garden located at Dundas West & Roncesvalles intersection.
